Why Riversdown?

Unique

The combination of staff who really care about your wellbeing and progress and the setting of the 14th Century Manor House; the decades of experience and the intercultural exchange between students and staff is unique. You will be part of the Riversdown family, not just a guest, and in addition to receiving training of the highest quality, your week will be an unforgettable social experience.

Experienced

Since 1971, we have trained over 40,000 international executives, academics and government employees from more than 67 countries in all industry groups and sectors. Our satisfaction rate is demonstrated by the very large number of people that come back to us for further training – in some weeks more than 50% of our clients are ‘returning’ students.

Effective

We recognise that training is a considerable investment for you and your organisation. Riversdown House is carefully designed to minimise distractions and maximise your motivation so you gain the highest possible return on investment. If your course does not meet with your satisfaction, we will refund the cost of your tuition.

Total Immersion

You will be practising and interacting in English for more than 12 hours a day through lessons and other structured activities. This ‘total immersion’ approach has been proven to be the most effective way of improving language skills and confidence, making sure your investment in training produces concrete results in real-life and work situations.

Customized

Every single course we deliver at Riversdown is designed specifically for your needs and those of your organisation – so your learning is as targeted, efficient and value-driven as possible. We only accommodate 10 one-to-one students per week at Riversdown so you will receive maximum individual attention throughout your course from your trainers and support staff. We can respond immediately to changes that you wish to make during your stay, to make sure you are always completely satisfied with the progress of your studies.

Accredited

Riversdown House is accredited by the British Council, which provides an independent assurance of the quality of your training. It also means that we meet or exceed agreed standards in our management, resources, environment and welfare. The British Council inspects our facilities and teaching quality a minimum of every 4 years.

Cross Cultural

We are also specialists in cross-cultural communication and consultancy with a body of knowledge and practical models developed over decades by our Chairman, Richard D Lewis. We deliver cross-cultural training to some of the world’s largest and leading organisations and you too can have these insights integrated into your Riversdown course.

Sustainable

Even after your course at Riversdown, you can benefit from ongoing language training and support from our dedicated teaching team, whether via distance learning lessons or through our Virtual Riversdown service which provides tailored support in areas such as checking or practising key presentations or helping you to prepare for important meetings. This means you can build on the progress you made at Riversdown as you continue to improve your English.
