The pantomime, or “panto”, is a traditional British play, full of jokes, songs, and colourful costumes performed over the Christmas period in every town in the UK. Many characters are played by the opposite gender and often talk directly to the audience and encourage them to join in, shouting things like, “He’s behind you!”  These shows are perfect for families and all those young at heart. You can laugh, shout, and sing along! The stories are usually based on fairy tales, such as “Cinderella” or “Aladdin”. This year Winchester Theatre will be performing “Puss in Boots”, based on the story of Dick Whittington and his cat, who travelled to London.  And we’re proud to support Andrew Wheaton, our Riversdown trainer, who will be performing in the show – “Oh, yes he will!”
