This week, students have enjoyed a talk by our knowledgeable trainer, Dr Nigel Paterson, on Highclere Castle.  This is the beautiful country house in Hampshire  made famous for being the filming location of the popular TV series Downton Abbey. Visitors can explore the grand rooms, learn about the castle’s history, and walk around its lovely gardens. The castle is also home to the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. If you enjoy history, beautiful buildings, and English countryside, Highclere Castle is a wonderful place to visit  and not far from Riversdown.

Access to Highclere is limited, but last year our students Javier and Sandra were able to obtain tickets and enjoyed a wonderful day at the house.  And best of all, they were greeted by the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon.  The Earl’s great-grandfather famously funded the 1922 archaeological discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt, and his father, who served as Queen Elizabeth II’s personal racing manager, was depicted in The Crown as “Porchy”.
