This week, a group of students at Riversdown took time to mark the summer solstice – the longest day of the year – with a peaceful gathering in our authentic Mongolian yurt.
The event brought students together in a calm and reflective atmosphere, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Riversdown grounds. The session included light stretching exercises and a guided meditation, offering participants a chance to pause, breathe, and connect with the present moment.
As part of the experience, students were invited to set personal intentions for the season ahead. This simple but powerful practice helped many reflect on what they want to focus on as the year progresses.
The session concluded with Reiki healing – a gentle, non-invasive energy practice. For those who took part, it was a quiet moment of rest and rebalancing, held in the stillness of the yurt and the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape.
While the solstice marks an astronomical event, it also provides an opportunity to take stock and reset – and this small gathering at Riversdown allowed students to do just that, in good company and a beautiful setting.
We’re pleased to be able to offer meaningful, restorative experiences like this as part of life at Riversdown and look forward to more opportunities to engage with nature and well-being throughout the year.
